Wichita police officers will be working out of a different office in the Old Town entertainment district in the near future.
The office has been located in Old Town Square, but the lease is expiring. The Wichita City Council has approved a lease for a larger office about a block to the north, at 230 North Mead.
Deputy Police Chief Terri Moses said the office in Old Town has been a great partnership between the police department and the Old Town Association for public safety services in the neighborhood. She said officers use the location seven days a week, although it is not staffed 24 hours a day.
