Wichita firefighters spent much of the afternoon Friday dealing with a 2-alarm building fire in the Delano neighborhood just west of downtown. The fire broke out on the southeast corner of Douglas and Walnut around 2 p.m., and heavy smoke was coming from a 2-story brick building.

The owner of Bullwinkle's Tattoo reported hearing an explosion before the fire was seen, and the fire then spread from that business into an apartment upstairs.    The building was damaged by smoke and fire and the neighboring buildings had smoke damage.

The people in the building got out safely, and no injuries were reported. Traffic was blocked at Douglas and Seneca.
