Fire in kitchen leaves extensive damage
The Wichita Fire Department made quick work of a kitchen fire at 1208 North Williamsburg.
The fire at the Parkview Apartment Complex broke out just after 8:40 a.m. Monday.
"Initial reports from the calling party stated that they thought someone was inside still," Fire Captain Lane Pearman said. "The first arriving company spotted smoke coming from the rear of the residence. We stretched an attack line inside - at the same time (we) conducted a search inside of the residence.
Damage was estimated at $20,000 to the home.
"The search proved negative. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire," Pearman said. "Most of the damage was confined to the kitchen, however there was minor smoke damage to the apartment next door."
