Velma Wallace had always played a key role in Cessna’s development, as well as the growth of the aviation community. Mrs. Wallace was, in fact, one of General Aviations first female pilots.

Wallace also impacted the Wichita area through her philanthropic work and generous donations. Just two weeks ago, Wallace donated $3 million to Wichita State University. Previous donations were made to organizations including the Wichita Music Theatre, Red Cross and Exploration Place.

A statement from Cessna stated “her philanthropic work made a significant impact, and for that we have all benefited. We send our sympathies to the Wallace family during this difficult time.”

Velma Wallace died Sunday afternoon at the age of 95.
