Wichita Police, Wichita State University officers, firefighters, and city parks and maintenance crews assisted with the rescue of a brood of ducklings from a storm sewer.

"An officer spotted one of the ducks going down into a storm grate in the Patrol North Bureau parking lot," Wichita Police Officer Bart Norton said. " t happened just after a squad meeting about 7:30 Tuesday morning."

The mother duck circled the area until her ducklings were taken out of the storm sewer and placed near a children's playground out in the open. The duck family was reunited within 90 minutes near Carmen and Shadybrook.

"It's going to make you feel good for at least a couple of hours," said Norton.
