Boeing reaches production milestone
The Boeing Company has reached a major milestone with the its top-selling jetliner.
The Boeing 737, in all its variations, is the world's best-selling jetliner. The company announced an order that was placed by United Airlines, that pushes the company past 10,000 units for the model.
The Wichita Business Journal reports about 70 percent of each 737 is built at Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, including fusilages and wing components. United is buying 150 jets, at an estimated price of $14-billion.
The twin-engine, narrow-body workhorse has been in production since the 1960s.
