With just over two weeks left until Election Day, a new poll indicates that the races for the office of the district attorney and sheriff are widening.

The KWCH survey, conducted by SurveyUSA, interviewed 401 likely Republican voters in the time period from July 16-18.

In the race for district attorney, Marc Bennett leads Kevin O'Connor 51 percent to 33 percent. Since there is not a challenger from the Democratic party, the winner of this race will become the next district attorney.

The Republican primary for Sedgwick County Sheriff is a little tighter than the race for district attorney, but not much. Wichita Police Captain Jeff Easter has a 49 percent to 38 percent lead over incumbent Sheriff Bob Hinshaw. The winner of this primary would face retired Wichita Police officer Jeffrey Weinman in the general election in November.

Primary Election Day in Sedgwick County is on August 7. Advance voting begins on July 25 and lasts through August 6 at noon.
