United Way taking appointments for worker center's August session
The United Way of the Plains will be taking calls through Friday to set up appointments for the Laid-Off Workers Center's August session.
To qualify for assistance from the Laid-Off Workers Center, workers must meet the following criteria:
- Been laid off and approved for unemployment compensation at some point since Oct. 1, 2008
- Show an emergency financial need and have insufficient personal resources to adequately provide food, shelter and /or clothing
- Must have been laid off from a job in Sedgwick, Sumner and Butler counties, or have lived in those counties at the time of the lay-off, between Oct.1, 2008 and present.
If you qualify, call the United Way's toll-free number at 2-1-1, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m..
