People who have left their vehicles unlocked have become prey to a rash of auto burglaries since early Thursday morning.

The thefts have occured near the intersection of 4th street and Obee road in the area of the Homefield Housing addition.

A handgun and CDs are among some of the items that have been taken so far.

Sheriff Randy Henderson said people should get in the habit of locking their cars and shutting garage doors.
