Traffic backs up during Interstate bridge work
The Kansas Department of Transportation began warning motorists late last week about the potential traffic jam in the northbound lanes of I-235 between Meridian and Broadway in north Wichita.
The traffic backup is underway.
Kansas Department of Transportation crews have started their repairs to the bridge over the Little Arkansas River. Tom Hein of KDOT said motorists should expect single lane traffic until further notice. This is in addition to overnight and weekend single lane and ramp closures along the entire length of I-235 on work that started in mid-September.
