The attorneys for two abuse victims at the Sedgwick County jail have filed lawsuits asking for $20 million in damages.

Our news partners at KWCH, Channel 12 are reporting that two separate claims have been filed with the county clerk's office. The claims were filed on behalf of inmates who have accused former detention deputy David Kendall of sexual abuse.

The lawsuits name Sheriff Robert Hinshaw, and they accuse the county and the sheriff's department of failing to properly train, educate and supervise Kendall.

Kendall, 21, is charged in criminal court with assaults on inmates in their cells in April and in early June. He is accused of assaults on six different inmates.
