Copper thief admits his crimes
A Wichita man has admitted he ripped copper out of at least 68 air conditioners earlier this year.
Byron Stuckey, 41, will be sentenced Aug. 30 for felony theft and attempting to elude officers.
Stuckey was captured July 11 after stealing copper from an air conditioner on Pawnee, west of Greenwich Road.
Wichita Police said they believe Stuckey took copper wiring from several churches. At the churches alone, the amount to repair the air conditions was estimated to be at least $100,000.
