48-year-old gunman faces charges in Wichita restaurant shooting
A 48-year-old man was booked into jail for aggravated battery and assault charges after Wednesday's shooting outside a south Wichita restaurant.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Mike's Steakhouse at 2131 South Broadway.
Lieutenant Steve Heimerman said a man saw his car in the parking lot and confronted the two men in the car. That led to an altercation, and the suspect then pulled out the gun and fired several shots. A 36-year-old man had a superficial wound to his face, and a 55-year-old man was hit by bullet fragments.
Heimerman said the gunman owned the car. He apparently was upset that the car was being used without his permission.
He said a third man witnessed the shooting and called 911. The suspect pointed the gun at him at one point. That witness was not hurt.
