There are two reported cases of the West Nile virus in Sedgwick County.  KWCH 12 reports that Via Christi Hospitals has seen two cases.

A hospital spokesperson tells our news partners that only 1 in 10 cases of the virus ever need medical treatment.  Symptoms of West Nile include fever, headache, tenderness, and body aches.

Health officials say to avoid exposure to the mosquito-borne illness, you should remove standing water from your property and use a repellent that includes DEET.
