West Nile cases reported in Sedgwick County
There are two reported cases of the West Nile virus in Sedgwick County. KWCH 12 reports that Via Christi Hospitals has seen two cases.
A hospital spokesperson tells our news partners that only 1 in 10 cases of the virus ever need medical treatment. Symptoms of West Nile include fever, headache, tenderness, and body aches.
Health officials say to avoid exposure to the mosquito-borne illness, you should remove standing water from your property and use a repellent that includes DEET.
