Man shot during motel drug deal
A drug dealer shot a customer inside a motel room at the Mark 8 Inn at 1130 N. Broadway in Wichita.
The 47-year-old man who was shot is recovering from a non-life-threatening bullet wound to the leg. He told police he went to a room in the motel to buy drugs and was accused of stealing by three men. The man was beaten, and when he tried to defend himself, he was shot.
Police Lt. Doug Nolte says officers were not able to get any concrete suspect information out of the victim.
"We believe that he knows who shot him," Nolte said. "However, we believe that he is a little bit worried about retaliation, so he is somewhat hesitant to cooperate with us."
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Friday. A bystander went to the QuikTrip at Murdock and Broadway to notify a police officer there.
