Arrest made in Salina man's disappearance
SALINA, Kan. (AP) Law enforcement authorities say it's likely a missing Salina man was killed, and a suspect has been arrested in his disappearance.
Thirty-seven-year-old Jeffrey Powell has not been seen since earlier this week. Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says Powell is believed to have died late Tuesday. His body has not been found.
The Salina Journal reports a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Kochanowski says the suspect was already in custody in Lincoln County on unrelated charges, and was booked into Saline County Thursday.
The sheriff says evidence indicates Powell's murder was intentional but not premeditated. Investigators have not said how they believe Powell was killed, or if any other arrests are expected.
