Valley Center woman recovers, one dead after fatal car-motorcycle accident
The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated an accident that left one person dead and three others with varying degrees of injury.
Troopers said an eastbound 2011 Ford Focus on Oregon Road started to make a left turn in front of a southbound Honda Shadow on US-169, where the vehicles collided in Allen County. It happend just before midnight Wednesday.
The driver of the car, 18-year-old Savannah Stoneking of Valley Center and her passenger, 21-year-old Mason Jones of Iola, were taken to Allen County Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver of the motorcycle, 45-year-old William Hegwald of Chanute, was taken to KU Medical Center in serious condition.
A passenger, 42-year-old Tina Dixon of Chanute, was dead at the scene.
Troopers said Mason and Stoneking were buckled up.
