Police working to connect pair of early morning shots fired calls
A man in his 30s was not injured when the vehicle he was driving was shot at several times in the 2600 block of East 16th Street North.
The incident occured shortly before 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Wichita Police Sergeant Bart Brunscheen said an unidentified shooter fired several rounds in the direction of the vehicle, one of which blew out the front passenger tire, causing the man to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a parked car. Two other shots were fired, with both of those hitting the passenger-side door.
A home was also hit by the gunfire. Two adults, four children and an infant were in the home at the time of the incident and were not injured.
Police are working to see if the incident is related to another call of shots fired that happened around 1 am Saturday near the intersection of Green and 16th Street North.
Brunscheen said that in that incident, a large disturbance of roughly 30 to 50 people was ongoing when six to eight shots were fired. The people quickly left the scene and the shooter was also unknown. No injuries were reported.
