Fire severely damages home
A farm home that had been lived in for generations was heavily damaged by fire.
The fire happened near 29th St. North and 295th St. West, southwest of Andale, around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Sedgwick County Fire Division Chief Buddy Presnell said the first arriving crews found the home on fire. Firefighters had to fight the fire from the outside because the floor trusses had burned between the first and second floors. The fire was primarily kept to the back of the home.
Firefighters worked for over an hour to put the flames and subsequent hotspots out. It is not immediately clear what started the fire, and a damage estimate was not available at the scene.
The home had been vacant for about a week. According to Presnell, the family who had previously lived in the home had moved into a new place.
