There's just a little over 100 Westar Energy customers still left without power following a mid-morning thunderstorm that rolled through Wichita.

Over 4,000 customers in Sedgwick County found themselves without electricity at one time, primarily in north, north-central and northwest Wichita Tuesday morning. A Westar Energy spokesman said lightning struck a substation.

He said crews were sent out to make repairs to the affected substation.

A thunderstorm that produced heavy rain and lightning resulted in a power outage in the Wichita area.

It's believed the outage is bounded by Interstate-235 to the west, Interstate-135 to the East, K-96 to the North and 21st Street to the South. Westar Energy estimates just over 4,000 customers are without power in Sedgwick County.

A company spokesman said lightning hit a substation during the storm. Crews are out and working on repairs. There is no estimate on when power will be restored. The storm also caused several grassfires in the area.
