Easter takes primary over Hinshaw, Weinman awaits in sheriff's race
Sedgwick County will have a new sheriff after the general election.
Jeff Easter won with a wide margin over incumbent Sedgwick County Sheriff Bob Hinshaw in the race for the Republican ticket. Easter will now face Democrat Jefrey Weinman in November.
Easter collected 30,261 votes, or 73 percent. Hinshaw had 10,667 votes, or 26 percent.
Easter has been a captain with the Wichita Police Department for 23 years. Hinshaw was elected as sheriff in 2009.
