Wichita man hospitalized after Greenwood County accident
A pickup-semi tractor-trailer rig accident sent a Wichita man to the hospital.
It happened about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 400 at mile marker 327, or just west of Piedmont in Greenwood County. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Ford F-150 was westbound on Highway 400, when for some reason the driver, 26-year-old Arturo-Misael Villanueva-Lopez of Wichita, crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound semi.
Troopers said Villanueva-Lopez was taken to Via Christi on St. Francis in Wichita, while the semi driver, 45-year-old Randy Lee Buller of El Dorado, was not hurt. A hospital spokeswoman said Villanueva-Lopez was in critical condition.
Both men had their seatbelts on at the time of the crash. A passersby told KFDI at least one lane on the highway was closed for several hours as KHP conducted their investigation. The road has since been re-opened.
