Fire at bar ruled arson
Wichita Fire Investigations Cpt. Stuart Bevis said the fire at the Pour Haus Bar near Maple and Seneca is arson. The fire broke out about 6:44 a.m. Thursday on the second floor of the building. Firefightershad to cut a hole in the roof to allow the smoke and fire to escape.
Bevis said there was an employee on the scene to let firefighters inside the building. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. No one was injured. Traffic was blocked for almost two hours as firefighters checked for hot spots.
Damage was estimated at $70,000 to the building and its contents. Bevis said the building housed several businesses and it was difficult for the firefighters to make it through walls and crawl spaces. The Kansas State Fire Marshall's Office and Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents will assist the investigation.
