Shots fired at Wichita taxi, driver unhurt

A gunman fired two shots at a Wichita taxi after the driver refused to turn over any money. The robbery attempt was reported Thursday evening in the 5200 block of East Central.

Wichita Police Lieutenant Doug Nolte said the a driver for ABC Taxi had picked up a man in the 4800 block of East Central, and he took the man to the 5200 block. The man stepped out and then pulled out a gun and demanded money. 

The driver refused. The gunman fired two shots into the windshield, but the driver was not hurt.

Nolte said the gunman ran away. He was described as African-American, in his late teens, wearing green shorts, a white T-shirt and a Chicago Bulls hat.
