Teens gain valuable experience through program
Nearly 150 Wichita area teens participated in a program called Dollar Wise Financial Literacy.
"The youth were provided work experience opportunities over the past couple of months. Not only earning some extra cash, but learning about the world of work and gaining valuable experiences," said Keith Lawing, executive director of the Work Force Alliance of South Central Kansas.
Lawing said the program was a collaborative partnership between the city of Wichita and the Work Force Alliance of South Central Kansas. Wichita was invited to participate in the program by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The City and the Work Force Alliance were lauded by the U.S. Conference of Mayors for the high number of registrants into the program, as well as the efforts to promote the program .
