Wichita officer tases homeless man who had butcher knife
A homeless man was tased by a Wichita Police officer after reaching for a butcher knife.
Police responded to a suspicious character call near the 400 block of North Gordon just before 9 p.m. on Monday. An officer found a 28-year-old homeless man who fit the description given to police.
"The individual was agitated that he was being stopped and became angry," said Lieutenant Joe Schroeder. "He threatened the officer, and then attempted to pull a butcher knife from his pant leg. The officer saw the knife and tased the individual."
The suspect was taken into custody for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and an outstanding warrant.
