Arkansas City Police arrest suspected car burglar
A foot chase involving a citizen and a suspected car burglar led to an arrest in Arkansas City.
It began after he spotted the suspect rummaging through his car Tuesday. The suspect's cell phone fell from his pocket into the citizen's vehicle. Later, police were able to identify and arrest the suspect. The man is apparently wanted for a rash of car burglaries.
The 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with burglary. He was taken to the Cowley County Jail and held on $3,300 bond. An interview with police led him to being charged with additional counts of burglary and theft and another $4,000 added to his bond. More arrests are expected.
Arkansas City Police urge citizen's to be vigilant with vehicles locked and off the street. Police said citizens also are urged to call police immediately if they observe anything or anyone acting suspicious in their neighborhoods, especially if they see someone looking into car windows.
