Annual Pony Express Festival planned in Hanover
The population of Washington County town of Hanover will swell on Sunday, Aug. 26 for the 27th annual Pony Express Festival.
The event includes crafts, shows and Pony Express reenactors, who will perform a mochila exchange.
"Which is where they take the saddle bags that were used by the Pony Express riders and change them to a new horse and new rider, and take off from there," said festival spokeswoman Katherine McCartney.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 785-337-2635.
Hanover is located about seven miles south of the Nebraska border, near U.S. 36, otherwise known as the Pony Express Highway.
