Pertussis and West Nile Virus cases on the rise in Sedgwick County

The number of cases of Whooping Cough and West Nile Virus is on the rise here in Sedgwick County.

A Sedgwick County Health Department spokeswoman said the number of pertussis ( Whooping Cough) cases reached 47  Tuesday. That's three more than Monday afternoon. She said as more children return to school, this number is expected to rise. The number of reported cases of West Nile Virus from through bites from infected mosquitoes has climbed to 33 in Sedgwick County. A spokeswoman said the milder west nile virus illness improves on its own.
