Wichita police arrest 3 metal thieves
Wichita police officers arrested three people at a south-side scrap metal business after a passerby called 911 to report suspicious activity.
The arrests were made just before 5 a.m. Wednesday at Boge Iron & Metal in the 800 block of South St. Francis.
Police Lieutenant Joe Schroeder said a passerby saw two people who appeared to be taking metal and placing it in a vehicle. The caller said one of the men ducked down when a car went by.
Officers got to the scene and took two men, ages 27 and 28, and a 26-year-old woman into custody. They were booked into jail for felony theft and criminal trespass charges.
