Via Christi merging research departments
Via Christi Hospitals Wichita has announced it is merging Via Christi Research and Via Christi Clinic Research.
The move will be finalized Oct. 1. It adds pulmonology, rheumatology, ophthalmology and endocrinology research to the hospital's existing therapeutic areas for clinical studies. Specialists will also be able to performs in-hospital clinical trials and trials performed at the 20-bed impatient clinical facility in the 1100 block of N. St. Francis.
Research was previously limited to outpatient trials.
"We anticipate this merger will provide a synergy to increase the number and quality of clinical trials available to the Via Christi Clinic physicians," said Jack Shellito, MD, president and chief executive officer of Via Christi Clinic.
Research coordinators will be stationed in the Murdock office.
Via Christi Research has conducted more than 600 trials since its founding in 1987.
