Man, woman targets of robbery attempt in north Wichita
Police are investigating a report of an aggravated robbery in a north Wichita neighborhood Wednesday night. Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte said the intended victims were a 34-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man, both from Parsons.
Nolte said the man and woman were in the 1200 block of North Hydraulic when they were approached by two men. One of the men pulled a gun and demanded money and the woman's car keys. The men then punched the two victims, who ran to their car.
The woman told police she heard two shots, but she and the other man were not hit. They got in their car and drove away to call 911.
Nolte said police found bullet fragments in the street. Detectives were talking to the victims to find out why they were in that particular neighborhood. The two robbers were described as African-American men, and the man with the gun was wearing red Chuck Taylor shoes, while the other man may have been using the name "Marty Swift."
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
