The Wichita State University men's basketball team will host 18 games on its 2012-2013 schedule, including a rematch with NCAA tournament opponent Virginia Commonwealth.

The Shockers open the campaign with an exhibition game against Pittsburg State on Nov. 5, then with the regular season home opener five days later against North Carolina Central.

WSU faces a stiff first road test when it travels to VCU on Nov. 13. The Rams knocked the No. 5 seeded Shockers out in the first round of the NCAA.

Beginning Nov. 15, WSU begins play in the Cancun Challenge, which includes two home games.

Tennessee will host the Shockers on Dec. 13. WSU will play one game at Intrust Bank Arena on Dec. 22 against Southern Miss.

The Missouri Valley Conference slate begins Dec. 30 with a home date against Northern Iowa. The Shockers wrap up the regular season March 2 at Creighton.

"We feel good about the schedule that we have put together," said WSU Head Coach Gregg Marshall. "We like the blend of home, away and neutral site games versus a wide variety of opponents. our team will be challenged prior to conference play."

The MVC tournament begins March 19-20.
