Local walk to raise awareness of Syrian conflict
A national approach to raise awareness for the situation in Syria will be displayed locally.
The 'Walk for the Children of Syria' will be held Saturday, Sept. 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. The event will begin in Old Town at Mead and 2nd St.
The mission of the walk, being conducted in 18 cities across the United States, is to bring attention to the the Syrian conflict while getting funding for injured or malnourished children.
Syrian Dictator Bashar al-Assad has come under criticism globally for violent regime attacks against uprisings.
The Syrian American Council is organizing the national walks along with Rise4Humanity. Donations will go to UNICEF's work in Syria.
