Police patrolling in Old Town say they may have been the target of shots that were fired as patrons left establishments in the area early this morning.

Wichita Police Sergeant Scott Brunow says that officers were tending to a person who was assaulted in the 200 block of North Mosley around 2 a.m. when they heard several shots fired.

Three officers were in a parking garage at the time. When they went to investigate the shots, more rang out, this time damaging a vehicle very close to the officers' position and a second vehicle that had two passengers.

There were no injuries in the commotion. An unknown amount of shell casings were recovered from the parking garage and from the 200 block of north Mead.

Witnesses tell police that they saw an African-American male, 6'1" tall, unknown age get into a white SUV and take off from the scene.
