Wichita city council members have voted to approve an economic incentive grant for a company that plans to expand and double its workforce.  NetApp officials recently announced that they would be investing $87 million in new equipment, and they would be hiring 418 customer service representatives in the next 5 years.   The company has been in Wichita for 15 months, working out of a building near 37th Street North and Rock Road.

Council member Pete Meitzner voiced appreciation to NetApp officials for their decision to expand in Wichita.  The council voted 6-1 to approve the grant, with Michael O'Donnell voting no.

Sedgwick County commissioners will consider the grant at their regular meeting on Wednesday. The grant agreement would have the city and the county providing up to $418,000 each over 5 years, depending on the new jobs that are added.
