Police open new office in Wichita's Old Town
The Wichita Police Department had an open house Thursday for its new office in the city's Old Town entertainment district. The office was previously located in Old Town Square, but it has moved east to an office at 230 North Mosley.
Police captain Max Tenbrook says the new location has more space and around a dozen officers will be working out of the office. It's a satellite office of the Patrol South substation.
Police have been working with Old Town businesses to improve security after 4 recent shooting incidents. Tenbrook said the new location was planned for some time, and the move is not related to those shootings.
Tenbrook said the office will not have regular hours, but officers will be in and out of the office 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He says people who need help from the police can stop by the location when officers are there, but otherwise they should contact Patrol South.
