Butler College opens new center for culinary students
The next generation of chefs and restaurant managers have a new school in Wichita where they can use state-of-the-art equipment to learn their craft.
Butler College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday afternoon at its new Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center, at 6655 E. Zimmerly in Wichita. The center is located at the Boston Rec Center.
The ceremony including a baking demonstration by Warren Brown, host of Food TV's "Sugar Rush". Brown is famous for giving up his position as a litigator for the federal government to open the CakeLove bakery in 2002. Brown now owns 6 retail storefronts.
The center's executive chef is John Michael, a graduate of the famous Culinary Institute of America, with two decades of experience in fine-dining establishments in London, New York, Napa, North Carolina, Virginia and Kansas.
Butler College offers associate's degrees in hospitality management and culinary arts.
