Injured robbery suspect arrested
Wichita Police arrested an injured robbery suspect Thursday evening after receiving numerous tips from the public about his whereabouts and the vehicle he was driving.
Nineteen-year-old Casey Toothman's photograph was posted on numerous websites and media outlets, including www.kfdi.com Thursday morning. A 66-year-old disabled veteran shot Toothman with a 9 mm handgun on Sept. 4 while Toothman was allegedly participating in a robbery at the man's house.
Toothman received a lot of media attention Thursday when it was revealed that he had posted a photo of his gunshot wound on his Facebook page.
Officers stopped Toothman's vehicle near Kellogg and Grove and took him to a hospital for treatment for a gunshot wond to the upper torso. The bullet apparently passed through Toothman's body without striking any vital organs. Toothman was booked into jail.
Two other teenage suspects were arrested and booked on Sept. 11 after officers received an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
