Motorcyclist seriously hurt in crash
A 21-year-old man was seriously hurt after he was clipped by a car while running a red light. It happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Harry and Oliver.
Wichita Police say a motorcyclist was traveling east on Harry at Oliver when a southbound four-door white car ran a red light and clipped the motorcycle. Sgt. Dale Mattern said the man on the motorcycle then struck a signal light pole on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the car fled the scene. The man on the motorcycle was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.
A witness, Ashlee Atkins, said she, her friends and the motorcyclist had just left a nearby party when the accident happened. She said the car that fled slowed down just a little bit.
Atkins said at the scene that she had been told her friend will be fine, but that 'It's still scary."
