A Tabor College football player found unconscious outside of a home in McPherson has died from his injuries.

The McPherson Police Department said 26-year-old Brandon Brown died at 10:16 p.m. Saturday at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.

Brown had been on life support since being transported to the hospital following what police say was an assault. McPherson officers were called to a home on Sept. 16 on the report of loud music and a disturbance when they discovered Brown.

McPherson Police Chief Robert McClarty had announced Saturday afternoon that a 19-year-old man from Dallas was being held in connection the case. Alton Franklin is currently in the McPherson County Jail on $100,000 for aggravated assault.

Chief McClarty said charges will soon be amended against Franklin following Brown's death. The case is still being investigated by McClarty's office, as well as detectives from the McPherson County Sheriff's Office and the KBI.
