Suspect arrested in weekend hit-and-run accident
Police have arrested a 21-year-old man after a weekend hit-and-run accident in southeast Wichita. The accident was reported around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Harry and Oliver.
Witnesses reported a car ran a red light and struck a motorcycle.
Wichita Police Lieutenant Joe Schroeder said the car left the scene, but officers found it Sunday as it was being towed to a body shop. Police were then able to track down the driver. He was taken into custody on a felony hit-and-run charge. Schroeder said the man is not a Wichita resident.
The cycle rider, a 21-year-old man, was in stable condition at a hospital with a laceration to his hip and some abrasions.
Schroeder said police received a number of tips after the crash that led to the discovery of the vehicle and the arrest of the driver.
