Memorial service for Tabor football player; charges amended
A church in downtown Hillsboro will hold a memorial service Tuesday morning for 26 year-old Brandon Brown of Sacramento, California.
Brown, a football player at Tabor College, was found badly beaten lying on a street in McPherson on September 16th, and he died this past Saturday at a Wichita hospital.
Charges have been filed against a McPherson College football player, identified as 19-year-old Alton Franklin of Dallas, Texas. He made his first appearance in court Monday on a charge of aiding and abetting 2nd degree murder. Franklin is being held on a bond of $500,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 3rd. McPherson police say this is still an "active and ongoing case."
