Elizabeth Smart's story of survival is the focus of a Human Trafficking Conference in Wichita.

Smart survived nine months as a prisoner after her abduction in 2002. More than 400 law enforcement officers, victim advocates and others are registered for the two day conference.

"Her story shows you are never alone, " said U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom in a news release. "There's always hope, always someone who cares, always the opportunity for life after tragety."

The Attorney General's Office, local businesses and community organizations are sponsoring the conference that begins on Thursday.
