Abortion rights group purchases former Tiller clinic
George Tiller's abortion clinic building has been sold to a former employee and friend of the murdered doctor.
The Wichita Eagle reports that the buyer is a the Trust Women Foundation, a group that plans to re-establish abortion services in Wichita. The group is led by Julie Burkhart, an abortion-rights activist.
The building at 5107 E. Kellogg was sold by a company run by the doctor's widow, Jeannie Tiller. She plans no further involvement with the property.
The clinic property has been idle since 2009, shortly after the murder of Dr. Tiller in his church by Scott Roeder, who is now serving a life prison sentence.
