Sedgwick County commissioners delay tower sale
Sedgwick County commissioners have delayed action on the proposed sale of a communications tower near the former Wichita Greyhound Park.
Pixius Communications wants to buy the tower from the county for $280,000, but County Manager Bill Buchanan told commissioners Wednesday that there are some late questions over the sale. He asked for a delay, and commissioners voted to delay their consideration until a later meeting.
Buchanan said the offer to buy the tower expires this week, but he's confident that an extension will be granted.
The county will not need the tower after upgrades to the 911 system are completed next year. The tower is located near 77th Street North and I-135.
