KHP investigating fatal crash in Reno County
The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on K-96 in northern Reno County.
The driver of an SUV was killed in a head-on crash with a semi tractor-trailer hauling grain. The accident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday east of Nickerson.
K-96 was closed at Riverton Road and Royal Smith Road for several hours. It has been reopened to traffic.
The driver of the SUV has been identified as 22 year-old Michael Benert of Baxter, Ark. The driver of the semi, a Lincoln, Neb. man had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital in Hutchinson for treatment.
