Salina police officer shot during standoff
One man is dead and a Salina police officer is in the hospital after a standoff ended early Friday morning.
The suspect died at the scene. Our news partners at KWCH 12 said Charleton "Chuck" Huen was shot by a suspect in the face. Salina Chief of Police James Hill said the officer has been responsive, and his injuries don't appear to be life threatening, but that could change. Huen was taken to a hospital in Oklahoma City.
The incident began with a report of a robbery and assault. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Marijon Gadson, was found in the basement of the home Friday morning. The cause of his death was not immediately clear.
The KBI is investigating.
