A 2-year old child is expected to make a full recovery after being rushed to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition after being bit by the family's golden retriever. The incident occurred about 11:15 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 8000 block of south Lulu.

Sedgwick County Sheriff's Sergeant Amy Osburn said it is not clear what prompted the dog to bite the child, since it was just the child and dog in the room together at the time of the incident.

The dog was placed in a 10-day quarantine so that the owner can monitor the dog's behavior and any changes that happens. Animal control will follow up again once the quarantine is over.

Osburn said the dog does not have a history of aggressive behavior.
