Man arrested after incident near Wichita school
Wichita police were questioning a 34-year-old man after an incident near a north-side elementary school.
Lieutenant Doug Nolte said a young girl reported that she was walking to school Thursday when a man walked up and offered her a ride. When the girl refused, the man became angry and started to chase her, then got into a pickup and followed her.
The girl went to her school, Gordon Parks Academy at 2200 East 25th Street North, and reported the incident to school officials. Nolte said officers stopped the pickup a short time later and took the man into custody.
The man was arrested on a traffic warrant, and the Exploited and Missing Child Unit is still investigating Thursday's incident.
